The fabric is IPX4 certified and features welded seams instead of regular stitching. This combination makes for a very solid, water-repellent construction. A striking feature of this pannier is the hardware-free design of the back of the bag. Whereas many other panniers have hard, protruding hooks, the Shield's back panel is completely smooth, which makes carrying the bag when you're not cycling particularly comfortable.
